Snap anything with MWSnap

Very user friendly and it's free!! You can take any screenshot of your pc easily, unlike typical paint program by microsoft. Just press Ctrl+Alt+A to select sizeable mode or Ctrl+Alt+W to select windows mode. Since a picture worths thousand of words, I bring this software wherever I go. Just in case I encouter any problem during troubleshooting, I will snap the screenshot and just forward it to my helpdesk with very few words to describe the problem.

Robust "BulletProof FTP Client"

I had been searching for a reliable ftp client for quite some time until I found BulletProof FTP Client. What makes this program stands out among other ftp clients is its robustness and user-friendliness. You know when you try to download a big file, (like my case I was downloading linux distribution whose size is about 600 Mb something) it took me about 2 days to complete the downloading. By using this software, I don't need to worry if I get disconnected while downloading because I can always resume its process. Unlike the typical FTP client where you need to start all over again, this program even let you to stop downloading and resume wherever or whenever you like!

backup, backup, backup

Everything in this life must have backup, including your Pocket PC data!
To backup your precious data/program, after synchronizing your PPC and PC, under ActiveSync, go to Tools--->Backup/Restore--->Backup Now.

I guess I don't need to tell you how to restore!

Redhat linux archive

To redhat linux fan, archive from oldest to latest version of redhat
ftp://archive.download.redhat.com

friendly ghost

Today, I was asked by my boss to find a solution for quick server recovery. I work in customer service department where fast solution is much needed especially during emergency.(total system breakdown)

Suddenly, I got an idea, why don't we use Symantec Norton Ghost? Not only it can provide the exact system restoration, but it can also eleminate all the fuss during system re-configuration. (You know what I mean if you are IT administrator).

So, basically what you have to do is backing up all your precious data into any media (CD, DVD, external hard drive, etc) , as long as the backup data doesn't share with your working physical hard drive.

Then, when the day comes, you just boot up your system from the backup media that you have created, and just follow step by step from the wizard, and you are done. That's all about it, as simple as ABC.

Become master of your own financial

You know what, sometimes it is not how much we earn that determine we will have a surplus at the end of every month, but it depends on how we spend our money. Few months back, my wife and I had always had a deficit in our budget. Well, we didn't call it a a budget because we actually had none! Our principle at that time is to spend what ever our wallet permitted. At the end of the day, we were always puzzled where did our money go. The worst case is we would sometimes blame each other for using each others' money.
"enough of this bulls***, and let's track down our expenses"I said to my wife one day. We realized that to have an effective budget we should know where our money goes daily. After few days of searching and comparing budget tracking software (for our pda) in the market, we found out that Budget Master is the best. We just love its simplicity yet very powerful features. Hence you can export your financial report statistic (if you have enough time) to your pc for further analysis. However this program runs on Palm OS, but for Pocket Pc user out there (like myself), don't worry because we have Stlye tap for Palm emulator. So basically you have to install this piece of software before you install Budget Master.

cool VMware

I was introduced to this software by my friend, Amir, who is a computer geek. VMware which stands for virtual machine allow more than one OS to be installed and run in a pc simultaneously. I was quite amazed on how it integrates your harddisk, memory, cd rom and even network connection among the OS.

Today, I've just finished installing Redhat Linux 8.0, which I will use for my final year project. The GUI is quite impressive and is comparable to Windows. But the best part of Linux is it's totally free!!

Compiler for Linux

One thing I've to adapt when switching from windows to linux enviroment is to get familiar with the command prompt, even the only thing you want to do is program installation.

Actually I was trying to install kmoses (single electron simulator), for my final year project, so I just followed step-by-step procedures, but it didn't work. After several attempts, then only I realized I need a compiler! Hahaha...
